Oil and Gas

Calgary’s and Alberta’s mainstay industry, it’s no wonder that so many of our clients straddle this sector. From oil and gas producers to service and supply companies; to oilfield transportation; to Canada’s oil and gas association, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP); to the provincial energy regulator, Alberta Energy Regulator, we’ve assisted various energy players in attaining their marketing and communications goals.

This complex industry with various stakeholders, sub-sectors and supply chains, has what could be considered a more challenging media profile. As such, our in-depth knowledge of this sector, its players, and specifics is critical to expertly meeting our clients’ needs. We have a vast background in oil and gas, including principal Agnes Zalewski’s time as the editor of Alberta Oil Magazine and the Group Publisher of the JWN Group. In fact, almost all of our team got their start working in the oil and gas industry. It is an industry we are proud to serve.

Project

CAPP Context Magazine

In 2012, as its inaugural engagement, Blunt was retained by CAPP to help revamp its member newsletter and meld it together with its quarterly President’s Report into a new, professional product with a renewed focus and vision. Blunt completed extensive market research as part of this exercise including a readership survey, member focus groups, an environmental scan and detailed internal staff sessions. We then presented comprehensive publication recommendations, which were all accepted by CAPP’s stakeholders.

Blunt was then retained to do the quarterly design (print and digital) of the publication. In 2015, we completed further market research to validate the success of the project. The print magazine continued to be published through to December 2017, with the online magazine site launched at that time. Blunt continues to now provide infographic and digital asset design, as well as feature and profile writing, for the online publication.
